The Naperville Renegades have brought the offensive firepower in the WWBA 15U North Championship, and shortstop Josh Wenz (2023, Naperville, Ill.) has seriously impressed near the top of the lineup. Wenz has shown a mature approach at the plate throughout the first two days, most notably turning on a two-strike fastball and driving it deep over the wall in right field. The Naperville native did well to fight off some tough pitches throughout the at-bat, finding the mistake late and refusing to miss it.

The athleticism shines for the primary shortstop, making plays deep in the hole and showing the ability to captain the infield with present feel for the position. Wenz has some strength in the 6-1, 175 pound frame and will be a name to follow as he continues to mature physically.

Tyus Smith (2023, Prior Lake, Minn.) put together a strong performance on the mound for the MN Starters 15U National team, allowing just a run over five innings of work. After struggling to find the zone early, Smith settled in and commanded the corners with his running fastball at 78-80 mph. Smith showed the ability to generate soft contact when working down in the zone and does well to mix speeds and keep hitters off-balance with a mid 60's breaking ball. There is plenty of room to fill out the long and athletic frame at 6-4, 165 pounds, and the righthander has a chance to keep climbing the fastball ladder with some mechanical refinements.
