Ryan Clifford, OF, Class of 2022
Commitment: Vanderbilt

In terms of being seen on the national circuit, Clifford was one of the first members of the 2022 class to make their presence known among college coaches as he played up against older grad classes, something the young left-handed hitter has continued to do throughout his career. Standing at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Clifford doesn’t look like your typical high school junior, nor does his skillset suggest his age, as the young North Carolina native shows loud offensive tools which includes big left-handed thump and a quick stroke through the zone. A career .343 hitter at PG events with plenty of extra-base pop on his resume, Clifford has played around the outfield as well as at first base in the summer and fall, though his arm strength adds to his potential as a right fielder at the next level.

Outlook for the Class: With the addition of Clifford, the Commodores have the top ranked class in the country and though we’re still a year away from the 2022 crop signing their NLI, it’s an impressive haul of talent, nonetheless. Clifford (ranked No. 31 in nation) is one of seven commits for Vanderbilt to be ranked within Perfect Game’s top 50 and those seven also account for half of the total class as Head Coach Tim Corbin and his staff now have 14 players verbally committed. He joins fellow PG Select Festival alum Andruw Jones and New York native Devan Kodali as the three outfielders committed in the group which is as deep as it is talented.
