Dylan Lesko (2022 Buford, GA) put together what has become an expected outing for the Buford Wolves. Last year, he threw a complete game no-hitter that was just spectacular to watch. This year, the righty did give up two hits but those were the only base runners to reach. The excitement came from the stuff gradually ticking up without adding effort to his delivery. He came in the game pitching at 95 mph and he touched 97 mph in this look. He goes in and out with planned precision and uses the top of the zone effectively as well. The command has never been in question and now the spin is starting to catch up with the dominant changeup we have watched for year, sitting in the mid-80s for most of the night. He spun a couple sliders during the outing, a pitch that he used quite a bit this summer, but mostly relied on his curveball in Hoover. The shape and velocity of the pitch has really improved, and he got some bad swings on the pitch that peaked at 80-mph. For a young arm that shows so much polish, the development process is clearly a top priority for the Vanderbilt commit as he continues to work and improve his craft. Lesko is a really good athlete, hitting a home run during his first game of the event, and an absolute must-watch every time he steps on the mound. He threw 6-innings striking out thirteen and did not walk a single batter.
