East Memorial Day Scout Notes: Days 3 & 4

Power cleanup man Jack Waddingham (2024, Orlando, Fla.) had a strong tournament, finishing with a .333 batting average but even that high mark doesn’t tell the entire story. Waddingham took a ton of competitive at-bats and even had more barrels than hits as there were numerous instances of him hitting the balls on the screws, just right at defenders. Despite the bit of tough luck, there’s the look of a future left-handed slugger given the size, quality of the swing, and feel for the barrel and back-spinning the ball. At 6-foot, 170 pounds he has a broad-shouldered build with a ton of physical projection and a swing that’s going to lead to a ton of power in the near future. The swing is loose and easy with a tight turn and plenty of loft and leverage as he gets good extension out in front as well. He’s got a bright future as a cleanup hitter and the power projection is both substantial and enticing for the talented left-handed hitter.
