West WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Days 2-3 | Day 4

Thomas Ferroggiaro (2022, Wilsonville, Ore.) is one of the better players in this entire event. He was mentioned in the scout notes from day two and three but the bat is too good not to bring up again. On Tuesday, Ferroggiaro led off the game with a solo blast to left field; this time as a right-handed hitter. It was his first at-bat from the right side this week and the swing showed the ability to be just as impressive as the left-handed one. He mirrors it well with the same bat speed and natural loft that allows him to drive the ball hard often. It has been barrel after barrel for Ferroggiaro, no matter the arm. He can work a count well when needed but also is not afraid to jump on the first pitch thrown. The competitive mentality is there and takes his abilities to the next level. He is aggressive in every aspect of the game. Whichever team gets the uncommitted infielder will get a special player that can contribute in a lot of ways.

Jaren Ekkelboom (2022, Loomis, Calif.) showed loud stuff early and maintained it throughout. There is a lot to like within the delivery. He maintains athleticism throughout and explodes down the mound at hitters. The two-pitch mix was just as explosive. The fastball sat 86-91 mph and he kept it here into his last inning of work. The offering got whiffs at the top of the zone. It tunneled extremely well with the slider at 78-80 mph. It had sharp action with tight spin, allowing it to break late.  The delivery and stuff made it an uncomfortable at-bat for hitters all day.
