East Memorial Day Scout Notes: Day 1-2

Starting on the bump for 5 Star Tampa Gold, Joshua Whritenour (2024, Hudson, Fla.) was in control throughout his outing. The right-hander’s fastball sat at 85-86 for the most part and topped at 87 early on. The heater played well down in the zone with run and sink. Whritenour’s go-to secondary was an 11-5 shaped curveball at 75-76. The pitch had good depth to it and along with some sharpness. The righty also flashed a solid changeup in the 78-80 range. He finished the day tossing a five inning complete game shutout, while only allowing two hits and punching out six. The Florida commit showed good control while pounding the zone, finishing with 66% strikes on the day. He worked from a low effort delivery along accompanied by a clean arm action. Standing at 6-foot-2, 165 pounds with quality arm speed, Whritenour has plenty projection remaining.
