15u WWBA National Championship Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5

On Day 6 of the event, even though his team had no chance to advance, Chase Ruden (2025, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) went out and competed on the mound like a champion. Getting the ball in the start for Slammers 15u Givens, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound RHP methodically mixed his pitches allowing his defense to make plays behind him and collecting plenty of punchouts along the way. Working exclusively from the stretch, he uses a simple inline delivery working down the slope with good direction and an ease to his overall presentation. He loads his arm well and repeats his three-quarter arm angle consistently, tunneling his pitches and creating deception. Ruden mixed a four-seam and two-seam fastball, both in the low-80s, and they showed distinctly different life as he moved it around the zone. He used his slider sparingly and it is an emerging pitch for him with mostly horizontal shape. His mid-70s changeup became more of a factor later in the outing and proved effective to LHH with its fade to the arm side. He was great to watch today, threw strikes at a 70% clip and went 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits, no earned runs, 1 walk and collected 7 strikeouts.
