Casan Evans (2024, Houston, Texas) continued his impressive summer on Sunday with his outing against Premier Moore. The No. 4 ranked player in the state dominated on the mound against a good lineup that’s showed they can hit this summer. Evans looked unhittable in his six innings of work where he collected 10 strikeouts while only allowing one hit and zero earned runs. His arsenal was on full display with his fastball opening at 92-94 and then slightly dropping down to 90-93 throughout the game, and his slider working at 78-81 showing tight spin and sharp break. The fastball showed lots of life to it and, pairing this with his slider, earned lots of swings and misses. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has a very projectable frame that provides a lot of potential for him and plenty of room for an increase in velocity. From this shutdown performance, Evans earned Most Valuable Pitcher for the 16u tournament and keeps proving why he’s one of the best players in the state.
