Believe it or not, we are only 5 weeks away from postseason play and things are only getting more complicated on a national level. Very few teams have been able to separate themselves from the pack in conference play, while some clubs who seemed to have buried themselves early have clawed their way back into contention. The way things are shaping up, the NCAA Selection Committee is going to have their work cut out for them when it comes to the Field of 64. So, the importance of every game and winning series’ is even more magnified.

No. 1 LSU (29-6) continues to ride its prolific offense to wins and had all they could take against No. 11 Kentucky (28-7) as they took the series. Florida (30-7) remains at No.2 after their (3-1) week and continue to keep pace in the SEC East, while No. 3 Wake Forest (31-5) is one of the few teams with some breathing room as they enjoy a 5-game lead in the ACC Atlantic Division. The No. 4 Vanderbilt Commodores (29-7) were victorious in their heavyweight battle at home against No. 6 South Carolina (30-6) and still sit atop the standings in their division. Arkansas (29-7) swept No. 19 Tennessee (23-13) in convincing fashion and jump back into the Top-5 as they enjoy a 1.5 game lead in the SEC West.

Mid-major powers Coastal Carolina (23-11) and Dallas Baptist (27-9) both continue to trend in the right direction and are putting together serious postseason resumes. The Chanticleers move up to No. 16 as they split a mid-week series at No. 15 Campbell and won a huge Sun Belt series at Old Dominion. The No. 18 Patriots had a perfect (4-0) week as they were victorious over Baylor and then hit the road to sweep FAU in Conference USA action. Indiana (25-11) moved up 4 spots to No. 20 since they went to Illinois and swept the series to keep them in 1st place in the Big-10.

Oregon, Southern Mississippi, and Miami all re-enter the poll this week and have had roller coaster seasons but seem to have all the components to help them stick long-term. The Ducks (24-10) are now No. 22 after their huge week of beating San Francisco twice and then winning a series on the road at Stanford. The No. 23 Golden Eagles (22-12) swept James Madison and are only a game out of first in the Sun Belt. The Hurricanes have been the most erratic team in the polls but are back in at No. 24 after their road series victory at UNC and are only 2 games behind Virginia in the ACC Coastal Division.
