Ahvyance Taylor (2027, Des Moines, Iowa) was an on base machine for the Iowa Stars all tournament, ending the tournament 2-for-3, with four walks, four runs and an RBI. He showed an advanced approach at the plate with a good feel for his strike zone and the patience to wait for pitches he could drive. Taylor has a confident, simple operation in the box that is well beyond the age. Impressed with ability to foul off close pitches late in counts and confidence in two-strike counts. Taylor starts from an even, square stance before a leg lift trigger lets him fire the hips and hands to make consistent loud contact. Stays in sync with the swing well and uses a flat swing path that is able to get on plane with pitches well. Present strength in the hands with a young feel for the barrel.
