15u BCS Scout Notes: Day 1

Matt Werner (2027, Plant City, Fla.) took to the mound for West Coast Prime on Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 150-pound right-handed pitcher has a higher-waisted frame with length throughout. He uses a leg lift up above the belt. It’s a really easy and smooth arm action through a three-quarters release. The fastball worked up to 80 mph, and he held the upper-70s on the pitch. The fastball has some arm-side run to it. The pitch played well, changing eye-levels for success. He threw a 12-6 breaking ball with good shape and plenty of depth. He trusted the pitch and mixed his two-pitch arsenal well. Werner threw 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, walking zero, and striking out 4 opposing hitters. He threw a ton of strikes, with 72% of his pitches being strikes.

Class of 2028 Tourney All-American Team
It’s to no surprise that these teams are chalked full of talented young prospects as many of the players ranked in the Top 100 of this class fill up both sets of Tournament All-American teams, but there are many individuals on these lists that aren’t yet ranked and performed at a level this year that is recognized.

Class of 2029 Tourney All-American Team
We'll open up by saying this; putting together these two teams wasn't an easy task and we could've easily filled another 2 teams without breaking a sweat. There's a mix of Festivalers from last year's 13u game, top 100 ranked players and others who put together spectacular 2024 campaigns and are more than deserving of this recognition.
