Midwest Labor Day Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Cole Ruggeri (2027, Naperville, Ill.) shined on both sides of the ball during the event. He’s a taller frame with room to continue adding strength. Shows athleticism in an uber-projectable frame. Ruggeri swung the bat well, picking up a couple of barrels on solid swings. He picked up a double working uphill through contact with a good feel for the barrel. He also showed a really great outing on the mound. The Mizzou commit worked up to 85 mph on the fastball and held the low-80s with a three-quarters release. The right-hander had good carry on the fastball. Ruggeri used a heavy dose of fastballs with a couple of breaking balls mixed in. He threw 3.0 innings and punched out 5 opposing hitters.
