LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2003 World Showcase
Schaler was a real nice surprise in Ft Myers. We had seen him before, but got a better chance to glue in on him at the World Showcase. First of all, he has the prototype RHP body at 6'4/210. He showed 89 mph velocity with a very good 12-6 breaking ball between 74-77. The changeup was pretty good too at 82 mph. He's a high 3/4 to over the top guy who might be dropped down some at the next level. The arm strength is there, but the heater could add a little more life. He should create some serious draft interest and needs to be watched closely this Spring. He could easily go the same route as former PG World Showcase RHP (David Aardsma) also from Colorado. We really loved Aardsma in high school. He was similiar to Schaler in some ways. Aardsma went to Penn State and then transfered to Rice where he's become a potential early pick this June. Remember the name Eric Shaler.
