2007 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Chadd Krist is a 2008 C 1B/OF with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Petaluma, CA who attends Petaluma HS. He was selected as a Top Prospect and we feel that he is one of the better uncommitted senior catchers we have seen. Krist is a good baseball player with a very good all-around game. He has an average frame and a lean, strong build that is well-proportioned. He is a talented defensive player and a good hitter. In all he is a very strong D1 prospect. Krist is a gap to gap hitter with good bat speed and an aggressive nature. He showed easy pull side power and drives through the baseball at contact. Krist hits with a really good lower half base that provides power from the ground up. He swings aggressively but maintains balance throughout. His power is a little surprising given his average size. Defensively he is an excellent receiver with soft hands and quiet actions. He has a quick catch/throw transfer and a consistently accurate arm delivering pop times at 2.0 and below in game situations. Krist is also a hard working catcher and has very good block/control skills. It is not hard to envision him starting at a major D1 program by his sophomore year and splitting time his freshman year.
