2004 Northwest Top Prospect Showcase
Eric Federico is a 2005 right handed pitcher/shortstop from Stockton, California, with a lean build at 6'1", 170 lbs. He has long arms and legs with room to add muscle as he continues to mature. Federico threw 2 innings during the Showcase and struck out 3 hitters. He showed the ability to manipulate the strike zone, and got hitters to miss often. He has a balanced delivery with a strong feel for the strike zone. Federico also shows his arm strength at shortstop, and good balanced foot work and soft sure hands. At the plate, he has a compact line drive swing with above average bat speed, and stays balanced throughout his swing. Federico projects to be an early line up type bat that has good bat control. He should be an impact player in High School, and see success at the next level. He is athletic, runs well with excellent instincts and he projects.
