2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Evan Bigley is a 2005 RHP/SS from Lancaster, TX. Bigley is a quality two-way prospect with the chance to be a pro level prospect eventually at either the left side of the infield or on the mound. On the mound, Bigley has an athletic delivery, with full hip turn and good drive to the plate from his lower half. He throws with some effort, but his arm works well. Bigley’s fastball was 88-90 mph with some boring action, and if he didn’t play every day in the field would probably have better velocity. Bigley looks like he has a bit longer arm action on his curveball. When he throws it around 74 mph it has good tight spin to it and a sharp two-plane break, but he’ll let up a bit and throw it at 70-71 mph without the same type of power spin. Bigley had a very strong showcase with the bat, showing very good bat speed with good load and balance in his swing. Bigley projects some power in the future as well. Defensively, he’s shown us plus actions at third base before and showed the same type of actions at shortstop in Waco. Bigley’s arm strength in the infield is present big league average and he’s a close to average runner, too. Evan is a big time game player.
