Ruben E. Centeno Ortiz is a 2027 C/IF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from San German, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Larger build with well-proportioned strength and plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary catcher, sets up in a side saddle stance and gets out of the crouch with some urgency. Utilizes a midline transfer and big stride before pulling down hard into release. Delivered his throws right on the bag, recording arm strength up to 73 mph with a pop-time of 2.07 sec. Right-handed hitter, starts in a wider stance with a high back elbow and high hand set-up. Utilizes a subtle load with no stride before working into a quick and short stroke. Produced well-struck line drives to the pull-side during batting practice. Has plenty of evident strength in the hands. Can get a bit overextended at times. Projects for more power with added strength and additional mechanical refinement. Posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.76 sixty-yard dash. Good student. Named to the 2024 Summer Northeast Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
