2024 High School All State Select Championship (2027-2028 Grads)
Brody Akins is a 2028 OF/MIF with a 5-8 120 lb. frame from Union, MO who attends Union. Features a smaller-sized build but with some present athleticism. Ran a 7.43 60-yd dash. In the OF, showed quality actions. Strong initial approach where he works with some quickness in getting around the baseball but shows some stutter steps into reception. Clean reception on all GBs where he displayed his glove early and caught it consistently out front. Clean shuffle into throws where arm worked longer out the glove and got off accurate uphill throws with average strength for his level. In the INF, showed fundamental actions. Light feet that only showed avg. quickness but got to his spots on time. Present glove skill to both sides and played through the backhand well. Extra shuffle and glove tap before getting off throws where he showed similar longer arm action and strength as the OF. At the plate, sits in a wider base that is slightly closed. Uses a rhythmic toe tap trigger where the hands/barrel stay neutral throughout the load. Consistently balanced swings. Slight dip in back shoulder helps create a more uphill path to and through the baseball. Avg. bat/hand speed for his level. Some inconsistent timing and feel for the barrel but produced a couple hard LDs back through the middle of he field.
