Johnnie Salazar is a 2026 SS/UT with a 5-6 130 lb. frame from Warren, MI who attends Western International. Primary shortstop with a smaller build and good athleticism. Has quick choppy feet and works around the ball well. Throws from an over-the-top slot with a quick arm. Moved well laterally and got to the ball well. Made throws with good accuracy and some strength behind them and was up to 75 from across the diamond. Also played outfield fielding it bent over to his side. Clean glove work and has good momentum through the ball. Ran a 7.53 sixty. Also pitched throwing from a high over the top slot. Works in line with the plate well and rides a good bit off his back leg staying balanced throughout the process. Fastball played firmer than anything and was up to 74. Flashed a curve as well. Left-handed hitter with quick twitchy movements in the box. Open feet with quick hands. Showed good feel for the barrel and stayed short to the ball. used a toe tap trigger for timing and rhythm. Could impact it up the middle and to pull. Contact projects better over power here. Good student.
