2005 National Showcase
Jason Hagerty is a 2006 catcher from St. Louis, MO with a muscular build at 6-2, 195 lbs. He is a quick and mobile athlete for his size and position and has side to side quickness and good speed underway. Hagerty ran the 60 in 7.16 and was 4.50 down to first base. He threw 80 mph in drills, showing very good arm strength, and had a best pop time of 1.88. Hagerty is a switch hitter with solid bat speed from both sides of the plate. From the right side, Hagerty has a shorter, more line drive oriented swing and shows good gap to gap power. Left handed, Hagerty gets much more extension and lift in his swing and has more of a pull/power approach. The ball jumps off Hagerty's bat and we've seen him hit the ball way out of professional parks before this. In fact, very few players probably helped themselves more at the National Showcase than Hagerty. His tools are first rate in all areas and he performed very well during the games and went from a regional prospect to a national prospect. He is a good student and has committed to Miami.
