Vaughn is a catcher/infielder with present tools that indicate he has a good future at possibly both positions. He runs well for a catcher, throws well from both SS and behind the plate and his bat is advanced at this stage of his his career. He is not big in size, standing 5 feet 11 and just 160 pounds but showed good bat-speed with wood and hit some hard line drives throughout batting practice and live pitching over a three day span. Behind the dish, Vaughn showed good actions receiving and controlling the game. His arm was clocked at 74 mph with a 2 flat pop time and he has more growing to do, projecting to improve in all defensive areas. His bat already shows good. As he adds strength, he should draw serious attention from bigger Division 1 programs. He hits well and plays well and has the chance to end up being a complete player at the next level.
