Philip Watcher is a 2014 MIF with a 5-6 140 lb. frame from Sumter, SC who attends Sumter HS. Medium frame, young build with lots of projection. Solid footwork fielding at shortstop, quick release with carry on throws. Arm action is long but projects well with additional strength. Open stance at the plate, aggressive swing with a slight uppercut swing path. Looks to pull the ball and flashes solid bat speed. Good idea at the plate, leadoff hitter skills with good contact and bat control. Aggressive base runner. Simple mechanics on the mound. 3/4 arm slot, ball comes out easy. Arm action is quick, fastball has life. Curveball is developing off-speed pitch with 12/6 break. Interesting two-way prospect. Good student.
