Tillman Pugh is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from De La Salle HS, residing in Oakland, CA. Pugh is built like an athletic running back (which he is), with a strong and athletic body on his 6'0" 172 lb. frame. He is still refining his playability, but Pugh showed the tools to be ranked #52 among PG National Top 100 position players. Pugh hits from a square stance and has some raw hitting toos that stand out. He has plus bat speed and shows above average power potential. He stays balanced during his swing and has a lower half that does work well in the swing. His power goes from gap to gap. One thing Pugh can do is handle the fastball. He is strong and takes a pretty big swing, looking to access that power. He can be pitched to and at times looks a bit overmatched, not in tools, just in approach to the game. At this point, he is best when gets to simply react within the game. Look for him to have a breakout year this coming spring. In the outfield Pugh showed that he can play all three outfield spots. He went to the ball well and exhibited a strong arm. In the outfield his reactions serve him well. , toolsy, a bit raw, plus bat speed, good body control, gap to gap power, lower half works, strong, can handle the FB, pretty big swing. He ran 4.42 home/1st and 6.64 in the laser timed 60. That home to first time is reflective of the size of his swing. Pugh is still evolving as a player. The more he plays against and with top players, the better he will be. At this point, he actually may be a better professional prospect than for the D1 level, though few D1 programs would turn away his skill set.
