Tyler Chatwood is a 2008 OF/IF/P with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Yucaipa, CA who attends Redlands East Valley HS. He has a medium frame with some present strength. Chatwood has excellent run/throw tools and his arm strength really stands out all over the field. He ran the 60 in 6.62 and threw 94 mph from both the outfield and from the mound. We've seen Chatwood all over the outfield and even in the infield and he is a standout with the glove. He plays defense with energy and his arm can intimidate runner. Offensively, Chatwood hits from an open stance and gets to his front side quickly. He has a quick bat, stays inside the ball well and hits solid line drives to all fields. He sees the ball well and can handle the bat head and his speed will give him some gap to gap power. Chatwood doesn't pitch often but threw every pitch between 92-94, so he obviously has some promise there. He didn't throw a breaking ball but his 82 mph change was pretty decent. Chatwood is a very toolsy player who plays with energy. That's a great combination. He is a good student off the field.
