Anthony Espinal is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Sarasota, FL who attends Sarasota HS. Thick large build with an especially strong lower half. Stays tall in his backside in his delivery with good direction and lower half use, loose arm with an extended high 3/4's arm slot, very sound mechanics, medium effort on release. Fastball topped out at 88 mph, fastball is heavy and gets on hitters late with good consistent life in the strike zone. Curveball is hard and sharp in the mid-70's, tight rotation and bite, 10/4 sweeping shape, maintains arm speed well and gets out front on release. Rare change up but showed life and feel on the pitch, could use more. Has the pitches to succeed as a starter at the next level and likely the command as well. Signed with Miami-Dade College.
