Michael Connelly is a 2017 OF/1B with a 6-1 189 lb. frame from Hendersonville, NC who attends Carolina Day. Large frame with excellent build throughout; good combination of athleticism and strength. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.30 seconds. Sets up to hit with even, straight stance and shows good strength in swing. Swing plane gets a bit uphill at times, has natural lift in swing, pretty simple load and trigger with quick hands. Would do better to shift weight more effectively into swing. Has rhythm in swing at times. Worked out defensively in the outfield, showing solid athleticism throughout movements to ball as well as fielding actions. Fields cleanly, shows ability to work through the ball well with good momentum that will only get better with additional repetitions. Low slot release on throws, solid accuracy to target with OF velocity clocked up to 79 MPH. Good student.
