Clay Cederquist is a 2009 1B/OF with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Fresno, CA who attends Fowler HS. He is a talented and energetic ballplayer and was selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Cederquist has a rangy frame and lean build that is quite projectable. He has a chance to be a major impact hitter and overall has good feel for the game. Additionally, Cederquist plays with energy and enthusiasm, while also possessing good baseball instincts. His swing has whippy life as he generate plus bat speed. He hits to all fields with authority and in time his raw power will start to emerge. Cederquist is a middle of the order hitting prospect. Defensively he is also a difference maker. He has soft hands and really good footwork, allowing him to work the bag smoothly. He reads hops well and can save team some run with his defensive ability and passion for playing. He is a good player and a good student. It is not often said about first baseman, but Cederquist is a baseball rat.
