Ronnie Allen Jr. is a 2017 C/IF, OF, RHP with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Hamilton, OH who attends Cincinnati Country Day. Large frame with athletic, well-proportioned, strong build. Switch hitter, flashes good bat speed from the left side with pull-oriented approach and aggressive weight shift, can be late getting started at times. Slightly closed stance from right side, shows uphill swing plane with inside hand path, has strength and carry when able to utilize the barrel, could better tap into strength with more consistent extension at contact. Has solid defensive skills behind the plate, quick transfer and solid footwork, gains ground on throws to bases. Still developing arm strength, but has quickness and throws are accurate, best pop time of 1.93 seconds. Also pitched, fastball up to 79 mph from high 3/4's arm slot. Maintains good balance and extension, will mix in occasional breaking ball with 11/5 shape and depth. Good student.
