Chris Martin is a 2016 SS/C with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Rancho Cucamonga, CA who attends Rancho Cucamonga HS. Large, athletic build, broad shoulders, long limbs and a projectable build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.54 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front, hands play at the ball, longer release, moves well on feet and gets behind the ball, stays tall at release but shows ability to make accurate throws from multiple arm slots. Lower set behind the plate, full take away into quick release, accurate throws, repeats action well, receives out front, 1.94 best pop. Switch-hitter, starts with a wide base from the right side, longer swing with a short path to the ball, shows bat speed through the zone with nice tempo, occasionally gets to front side early but creates carry off the barrel. More fluidity to swing from left side, starts slightly open and gets closed, stays through the ball well with sound bat speed, gets the barrel to the ball well and shows nice carry to pull side. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
