Blade Richard is a 2018 SS/OF with a 5-7 140 lb. frame from Scott, LA who attends Carencro HS. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.83 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with soft, fundamental footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Flashed solid first step quickness with good range to each side as well. Funnels the baseball with clean glove action out front prior to work through transition with smooth glove to hand exchanges. Full arm action with an over top releases while throwing across the infield that generated accurate on line carry to the bag, topped at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter upright, open stance and reaching leg lift trigger. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions generating good shift into the baseball. Swings with intent on a loose, compact path to contact. When on time, produced very good leverage through extension. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice and generated hard, rising line drives between the outfield gaps. Good follow. Good student as well.
