Jonathan Alonso is a 2018 1B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Clearwater, FL who attends Northside Christian HS. Strong athletic build with plenty of body life, pretty mature physically. 7.03 runner, advanced first baseman defensively, picks very well with soft hands and has the flexibility to stretch out, sound fundamentals, makes accurate throws with good arm strength. Also plays the outfield. Right handed hitter, deep arm bar load with a flat barrel in back, swings hard and aggressively and creates some bat speed, limited lower half use, line drive swing plane, hits to all fields, flashes the ability to drive the gaps, has hitting tools to develop with adjustments. Interesting athlete who should continue to improve. Good student, signed with State College of Florida.
