Brandon Todd is a 2018 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Chandler. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build and broad shoulder. Ran a 7.63 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, shows a low set with good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Gains some ground creating momentum to the bag. Gets ball out cleanly while working through transition. Creates solid downhill angle from a compact arm action with some recoil at finish. Throws had accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 74 mph with a best workout pop time of 1.94. Right handed hitter with a narrow, upright stance and high back elbow set. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions. Tends to hit off a taller front side with a mid-field approach. Shows strength and present bat speed through that zone that produces solid jump of the barrel. Has the ability to turn barrel to contact generating loud contact off the barrel to the pull side gap. Shows good balance and barrel control when front side and hands deliver to contact on time. Also pitched showing a full, quick arm action through extension. Fastball comes out of hand cleanly from mid three-quarters arm slot, sat in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 mph. Flashed late sinking action when located down in the zone that induced soft contact. Flashed a curveball in the low 70's that had solid spin with depth. Changeup sat in the low 70's as well with a deceptive arm action that matched fastball release. Solid two way prospect. Good student. Named to 2016 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
