Ryan Jennings is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Smithson Valley High School. Large, athletic frame with a long and lean build, projects nicely with additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, moves well on the run and stays balanced charging in, hands play nicely at the ball, confident actions, smooth transfer with a quick arm, extra step at release, shows ability to throws accurately from multiple slots across the diamond. Also pitched, shows nice rhythm throughout delivery, hip coil at top and works quickly. Three-quarters arm slot, gets on top and generates short running life on fastball that topped out at 83 mph. Filled strike zone and shows a nice feel for slider, sweeping shape at 73 mph and not afraid to double up. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and a wide base in the box. Slightly open stance to start, gets closed at the point of contact. Shorter path to the ball, keeps hands in throughout swing and employs a contact approach. Shows quickness to hands, mostly upper body dominant swing with a line drive swing plane, gets the barrel to the ball well. Very good student.
