Zarion Sharpe is a 2016 LHP with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Winterville, NC who attends Oakwood School. Tall and slender build, long limbs, projects well physically. Mid 3/4's arm slot, front side tends to open up early, straight up finish, upper half rotational delivery, can extend better out front with better direction on release. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 83 mph, good arm side running action, consistent action low in the zone. Slider is a good pitch, gets tight spin and biting action, sweeping 2/8 shape, shows ability to back foot right handed hitters with the slider. Change up still developing, tends to slow arm and body on release. Strike thrower who has some idea how to pitch. Right handed hitter, high hand start, swings hard with a downward swing plane, solid contact in BP and in games. Showed athleticism with a nice diving game catch in left field. Should keep improving with additional strength and repetitions. Good student. Named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
