Dalton Steere is a 2016 3B/SS/RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Waverly, IA who attends Waverly-Shell Rock. Smaller, athletic frame. Shows a balanced stance with a lower hand set at the plate. Shows a pullside approach with a faster front side and tends to throw bat head out in front. Has a level swing plane with good barrel control. Does show stiffer actions at times, best swing occur when front side stays on baseball and top half has fluidity. Shows flashes of this swing in game situations. Shorter 3/4 arm action from the infield. Smooth funneling action through the baseball into transition. Has a tendency to get on heels at times. Shows some range to both sides with good closing speed while staying in control. Topped at 80 mph across the infield with accuracy. Also pitched showing a 3/4 slot with shorter arm actions. FB has some arm side run that ranged from 72-73 mph, topped at 74 mph. Curveball has 10/4 shape with some depth. Tendency to let front hip leak and flatten out offspeed pitches. When on plane, curveball shows harder bite and spin rate. Curveball toped at 63 mph. Flashed a changup at 70 mph with some fading action. Higher celing as a position player. Good student as well.
