Blake Petty is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Leeds, AL who attends Clay-Chalkville HS. Petty has a medium sized frame with a thicker build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. Petty hides the ball well and has a directional inline delivery. He lands with his front foot pointed too far closed which limits his ability to get his weight over his frontside and finish pitches. Petty has enough raw arm strength to project more velocity if he's able to make the proper lower half adjustments to his delivery. He throws a 1/7 curve ball which showed occasional downer action to it. He showed some feel for his curve ball which will also improve with improved lower half mechanics. Very good student.
