Alec Trela is a 2016 SS/IF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Bloomington, IL who attends Normal Community HS. Big and strong athletic build, fairly mature physically. Right handed hitter, upright stance, very good present bat speed from a deep hand load, pretty simple and balanced hitting mechanics, looks to pull the ball and has the strength to drive it hard, showed very good pitch recognition skills against live pitching, has all the tools you'd like to see in a young hitter. Third base build and tools on defense, arm strength really improved over the last few months, has quick hands in his exchange and release, good balanced footwork, everything clean and under control. Excellent student.
