Caleb Hoover is a 2024 RHP/C, 1B, 3B, IF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Heath, TX who attends Rockwall-Heath HS. Caleb is an emerging younger player with a sound build and twitchy actions that will only get better as he matures and gains more experience. As important, if not more so, he is also a top-flight student. Caleb shows the fundamental make-up and obvious tools that scream next level. A primary RHP. he is already pitching at an advanced pace. His physicality on the mound is quite apparent. He works exclusively out of the stretch and repeats his simple, yet effective operation well. His 84-87 mph fastball is his go-to pitch. He commands it well to both edges and all quadrants. He works with a pace and rhythm usually reserved for pitchers much his senior. He compliments his outstanding FB with a tumbling 80 mph change-up thrown from the fastball window and a 11-to-5, 64-mph sweeping breaking ball that will fall off the table when down in the zone. Caleb has a feel for pitching that will only get better with experience and exposure to a higher and more competitive level. On the infield he shows an ability to make all the routine plays. His hands work and his strong arm allows his 75 mph throws across the diamond to remain true and firm. At the plate, Caleb is a contact first hitter with a swing operation that should allow for power production as his career continues. He has a feel for the barrel and gets to and through contact with force. He should continue to gain strength and his current physicality will only get better as his career moves forward. Bright future with big upside.
