Kantaro Sekiya is a 2016 LHP with a 5-6 150 lb. frame from Setagaya, Tokyo, JPN who attends Shoin HS. Young, athletic frame with a lean and projectable frame with room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, shows a short and quick arm action in the back with a low three-quarter arm slot at release. Steady tempo to delivery, shows mound presence and hides the ball well creating deception at release. Stays tall on back and creates extension out front at release. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, showed good arm side run and late life in the zone, has the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate and attacks hitters with a full mix. Can elevate with intent. Curveball showed 1-7 shape with tight rotation at 65 mph, slider serves as put away pitch with late lift in the zone at 70 mph. Keeps hitters off balance, changeup shows short depth at 71 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts with a slightly open stance and hands away from body. High leg lift trigger, loads hands deep, line drive swing plane with a short path to the ball. Contact approach, shows line drive contact off barrel to pull side.
