2020 Sunshine Showcase at Prasco Park
Colin Ames is a 2022 RHP/3B, IF, OF with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from South Lebanon, OH who attends Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. Large frame with present lower half strength and room to physically mature. Primary right-handed pitcher with a high upside and fairly simple operation. Starts with a simple rocker step into a slightly coiled leg lift, slight head whack during stride that causes a slightly offline finish. Worked up to 86 mph from a three-quarters arm slot, with more consistency from the windup than the stretch presently. Strong lower half mechanics that flashes some exploding life through the bottom of the strike zone, showed command to both sides of the plate while using all four quadrants with his fastball. Held velocity well through his outing, mixing in a sweeping slider to generate swings and misses when ahead in the count. Will continue to improve with slight adjustments to his mechanics and velocity has the potential to up tick in the future. Good Student.
