Daniel Casto is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Olive Branch, MS who attends NorthPoint Christian HS. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.13 sixty-yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth, simple side step delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather creating slight coil over back leg. Stays in line while driving to the plate generating solid downward angle from a low three-quarters arm slot with a fastball that topped at 86 miles per hour. Fastball jumped out of hand very well with heavy sinking life down in the zone. Slider flashed 2/8 shape with tight rotation and compact sweep to glove side at 68 miles per hour. Also showed a straight changeup with a deceptive arm actions that matched fastball offering. Continued to created better feel and command for all three pitches with each inning. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Shows smooth, fluid actions throughout swing on a loose, uphill plane through extension. Controlled the barrel well to all part of the zone with present bat speed and strength. Primarily looked to lift the baseball between the outfield gaps created hard, loud contact throughout batting practice. Good student. Named to the 2017 National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
