Trevor Hinkel is a 2019 RHP/C, 3B, SS with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Chaparral. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Ran a 7.11 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands at a slightly closed position on front side creating some crossfire at release. Clean arm stab at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball comes out of hand very well producing heavy run to arm side in the mid 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and good depth. Adds and subtracts with curveball offering. Also flashed a slider that had tight 9/4 shape with late tilt to glove side. Aggressively attacked hitters while pound the zone with all three pitches. Worked out defensively from behind the plate and infield. Behind the plate showed a low, balanced stance with clean footwork while working to the bag. Loose glove circle while working through exchange and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated stiff, online carry to the bag topping at 76 miles per hour. Best workout pop time of 1.88. Switch hitter with a crouched, narrow stance. Hands load to a deep position and work to contact on a loose, uphill plane through extension. Showed solid barrel control from each side of the plate but flashed better whip and strength from the right side of the plate. Ball jumped off barrel well generating carry to both gaps when squared. Good student. Named to the 2017 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
