2004 Northwest Top Prospect Showcase
Bryce Parker is a 2005 right handed pitcher/catcher form San Jose, California, with an average frame and lean build. On the mound he has a quick tempo to his delivery with the energy to throw the ball hard, and was one of the few pitchers at this event with a true slider. His slider had good spin with late break and better velocity to come (79 mph presently). Bryce threw 2 innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 2. He is a good groundball pitcher that was not affected by errors in the field. As a catcher, he shows good hands and good agility to move from side to side behind the plate. He has a very strong (83 mph) accurate arm. Parker is an athletic looking kid with a good swing and some present power on pitches near the inner half. He has a slight weight transfer toward contact, and an aggressive torque/hip turn in his swing. Parker is an energetic kid that comes to play, and should have no problem playing/pitching at the next level. Parker is a good two way prospect.
