Cody Brooks is a 2019 1B/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Cheyenne, WY who attends Cheyenne East. Large frame with long limbs and a lean build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary first baseman, centers the ball well with athletic footwork. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and works through transition well. Primarily released from a lower arm slot, but flashed the ability to throw from multiple arm angle while on the run, topped at 73 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and toe tap trigger. Coils hands at load and launches to contact on a loose, extended path. Flashed bat speed and strength at contact with the ability to turn barrel to baseball. When on time, produced solid jumped off the barrel with carry. Also pitched showing a balanced delivery with some front hip leak while driving to the plate. Long arm action from a low three-quarters arm slot that generated some sinking action with a fastball offering that topping at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 slurve shape with some spin and tilt to glove side. Showed good feel from slider offering with the ability to throw in positive and negative counts. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student.
