2021 National Pre Draft Showcase
Jacob Hartlaub is a 2021 RHP/2B, SS with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Milwaukee, WI who attends Martin Luther. Recorded a 6.73 second 60 yard dash time, showcasing good speed and present athleticism. Tall and lanky frame with plenty of room to fill. Primary right-handed pitcher, long and loose arm action with good hand speed and whip to the arm, comes from a three-quarters slot. Lands online with good extension and finish to the plate. Low effort operation, sat 89-91 mph and did it pretty easy with good life to the fastball on both sides of the plate. Shows drop and drive lower half mechanics and a poised and focused mentality on the mound. Flashed a slider that he struggled to locate at times, the changeup was excellent when he got it glove side, showing late fade and sink while keeping the same arm speed. Great frame with a live arm and plenty of athleticism, projects very well on the mound moving forward. Right-handed hitter with a tall stance and longer swing path. Has some lift in the swing with good pop when on time and squared. Creates plenty of separation and gets into a good hitting position at launch, has real power potential, barrel control will improve as the operation becomes more consistent. Good student. Ball State commit. Named to the 2021 National Pre Draft Showcase Top Prospect List.
