Cedric Mitchell is a 2021 OF/RHP, MIF with a 5-8 135 lb. frame from Flossmoor, IL who attends Homewood Flossmoor. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while working through pick up and exchange. Carried momentum to glove side while released from a three-quarter slot. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, event stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose path to baseball with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Flashed developing feel for the barrel while employing a mid field approach. Showed some ability to manipulate the barrel and will continue to develop with strength. Also pitched showing a simple side step high leg lift delivery. Stays flexed with coil over back leg at gather. Worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Looked to located fastball offering down in the zone sitting in the low 70's, topped at 73 miles per hour. Flashed a curveball that had 11/5 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Also showed a straight changeup that had occasional sink in the upper 60's. Consistently attacked the strike zone and challenged hitters with all three pitches. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
