Kendall Korbal is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Langham Creek HS, residing in Houston, TX. He has a long body with plus shoulders and a 6'6" 190 lb. frame that has a lot of room to fill out. He was ranked #81 among PG National Top 85 pitchers and was one of the more long term projection type prospects. Korbal pitches from a 3/4 slot with a long arm action. Korbal has a nice looking delivery, with an easy lift and some fluidity. He gets to good extension and will gain even more with some more leverage on his front side. Korbal showed a fastball in the 83-86 range with a touch at 87. When his delivery was on-time there was good sink on his fastball. As he gets more physically developed his fastball is going to gain velocity and action in the zone. Korbal showed both a cutter and a slider as his secondary pitches and both are good. His slider was 73-76 mph and the cutter was 78 mph. He may have been throwing a slider the whole time but at the higher velocity the action was much more lateral. His feel of both pitches was good, and they project to be above average pitches, with a chance to be even better than that. There were times that Korbal's slider had big break... whiffle ball type action. The more front side stability he adds, the more action he can get on that pitch. He also has a plus 73-75 mph change-up, thrown with good feel and excellent arm speed. All of Korbal's secondary stuff is good and if he just remains patient with the fastball, which should continue to develop as he does physically, Korbal has a chance to be very good, with a quality sinker/slider combination. Korbal could go take a few different paths. He is a good D1 prospect but also a projectable arm that could be a quality draft and follow prospect. It is also conceivable that he makes a jump this spring and becomes a stronger present day professional prospect. Put a strong follow tag on him, he has a chance to be quite good.
