Juan Mercado is a 2021 RHP/MIF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends Lake Highland Preparatory. Medium frame with a lean build and room to fill. Ran a 7.53 second 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, world a simple and efficient delivery, side step into belt high leg lift, short arm action through a high three-quarters slot, maintains a good line to the plate, fastball shows true to velocity, mixed in feel for a curveball with good depth and late bite out of 11 to 5 shape. Also worked out in the infield with fluidity to actions, receives it well and shows looseness to release. Right-handed hitter, uses a hanging leg lift trigger for timing, longer swing path with an aggressive approach finding the barrel consistently. Great student.
