Matthew Shine is a 2022 C/ with a 5-8 157 lb. frame from Orangeburg, NY who attends Tappan Zee. Smaller frame with plenty of room to fill out and some present athleticism. Recorded a 7.25 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary catcher with a solid catch-and-throw skill set, explosive footwork out of the crouch position and quick mid-line- transfers. Repeats mechanics well, receiving softly out in front and delivery accurate throws to the bag up to 70 miles per hour in drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a spread stance with a low back elbow and good lower half usage. Middle-of-the field approach with present bat speed, feel for the barrel and fairly consistent bat-to-ball skills. Projectable hit tool with developing line drive impact when on time. Good Student.
