LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2007 National Showcase
Jeremy Rodriguez is a 2008 C with a 5'8'', 180 lb. frame from Thousand Oaks, CA who attends Crespi HS. He has a strong, stout build on a short frame and could firm up his lower half some in the future. Rodriquez has very quick and compact actions and is a high energy catcher, as you often see on shorter receivers. He threw 77 mph during catching drills and has a very quick transfer on his throws. His best pop time was 1.85. He received the ball well in games and his attitude and energy is infectious. Offensively, Rodriguez is a switch-hitter with ability from both sides of the plate. In fact, the PG scouting staff was split on which side they liked Rodriguez better from. He has more of a strength based power stroke with some lift from the right side and a shorter, contact oriented swing from the left side but is dangerous both ways, especially to the opposite field. He has a nice combination of defensive and offensive skills and should keep improving if he can keep his body under control. Rodriguez is also a good student.
